i'm embarking on a mission: a year-long (or maybe even longer) break from instagram. now, this isn't my first rodeo—i've gone cold turkey on twitter and tiktok before. deleting social media is practically part of my playbook. in summer 2021, i've crossed paths with folks who maintain minimal social media presence. i've always admired them. there's something intriguing about those who choose to stay off the grid. maybe they're laser-focused on their goals, or perhaps they're just fiercely protective of their privacy in this digital age. i'm leaning toward the former. at some point, i realized i wanted to be that person—the one unshackled from the demands of social media. so, i chatted with these low-profile individuals. turns out, many of them did it to reclaim their attention span, boost productivity, and safeguard their mental health. and guess what? they all agree: it's been for the best. why am i quitting instagram? plain and simple: instagram stopped sparking joy. it held me back from becoming the best version of myself. how is it going? let me tell you, those initial days were a rollercoaster. i hovered in limbo, questioning my decision. the urge to come back was real, even though i knew it wasn't healthy. but as time marched on, a new normal settled in. the benefits started rolling in. fewer ads, fewer distractions. my attention span perked up. i tackled tasks i'd procrastinated on for ages. and—get this—i rekindled my neglected hobbies. leaving instagram felt like shedding a weight, a sigh of relief. and now? i wouldn't trade this newfound peace of mind for anything c:
